Migraine

Migraine is a neurological condition causing chronic headaches along with other symptoms such as nausea, sensitivity to light and sound etc.

It is generally seen being passed in families and can occur in any age group. Migraine can be triggered by several sources such as stress hormonal changes, sleep disorders and eating habits.

It has been seen that Yoga and Meditation can help in controlling and treating symptoms of Migraine to a great extent. There are symptoms which occur a few days before the migraine attack. They are also called aura and are listed as under.

  • Constipation
  • Mood changes, from depression to euphoria
  • Food cravings
  • Neck stiffness
  • Increased thirst and urination
  • Frequent yawning

Examples of migraine aura include:

  • Visual phenomena, such as seeing various shapes, bright spots or flashes of light
  • Vision loss
  • Pins and needles sensations in an arm or leg
  • Weakness or numbness in the face or one side of the body
  • Difficulty speaking
  • Hearing noises or music
  • Uncontrollable jerking or other movements

Through a combination of therapies such as meditation, yoga Ayurveda etc, symptoms of Migraine can be controlled to a great extent
